We have now looked at different components to the connection process between the car, the sensor, and the FIXD app. There is one more very important step. This is the connection from the app to the server. This is a crucial step because we are able to make the app a lot smaller, in terms of the file size, so that it takes up less space on your phone. This is done by saving a lot of information in our sever instead of your phone. This does require a network connection since the app have to retrieve the information.
A lot of information is stored there from what the make, model, and year of your vehicle, to what sensor belongs to you. This is important because you would have to enter this in every time you wanted to connect if it wasn't saved. This does mean a strong network is required to connect.
Now that we know why we need a strong connection, lets look at what we mean by that. A strong connection for the FIXD app is at least 3 bars of data coverage. While data connection is usually tied in with your cell coverage, (i.e. 3 bars of cell = 3 bars of data), it is not always the case. You may need to find an area with a better data connection if you are unable to use the app. While you can also use wifi to connect, most of the time you will not be able to use it. This is because wifi has a limited range, and since you will be outside with your vehicle the signal will most likely be too weak to use.
We hope this gives you a good idea of why a strong network connection is necessary, and what a strong connection is! If you have any questions please contact firstname.lastname@example.org!
